Edward Garcia is a
New York native, who was greatly influenced by the time he spent in Miami,
Florida. He writes of family struggle, discrimination, and identity as
a Latino living in America.
Edward has performed at many prestigious venues across the country including:
The 92 St. Y, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, CBGB’s Gallery,13
Bar Lounge, Princeton, Yale, SUNY Oneonta, University of Miami, Hampshire
College.
Edward has taught for many different organizations including: Aspira of
New York, Community Word Project, Youth Speaks, Urban Word, Louder Arts
Collective, and the Police Athletic League. He has taught leadership,
poetry, and community building to all age groups.
Edward received a B.A degree in English and Philosophy from Florida International
University. He received a fellowship from The New York Foundation For
The Arts in Poetry this 2003.
He divides his time
between teaching, writing, painting, and film making. If there is any
time left, he sleeps. |
