Sat 8-02-03:
My summer laziness holds no bounds. I got up at 1:30 in the afternoon today. Surfed the interweb (shappy reference) until like 430. Left the house to go to eat at vegetarian dim sum house (for the sixth time this month, its even worser cause I'm going tomorrow too) I love their pan fried noodles. Had a little mix up with Ishle's thing. She had wanted me to feature that day but I couldn't get in contact with her until it was late and by then I wasn't prepared, But it turned out Ok. I'll be featuring at her seven saturdays show on the 16th.
After we ate we went to The BPC for Ishle's reading series. It was really good. I like the format she has adopted.(short open mic two or three short features and cap it with a musical guest) Today's feature was Mariposa and Reggie Cabico. I just want to give my support to Mariposa right now because I know she's been going through stuff lately(don't need to say what it is, just send some love her way) Mariposa was great and so was Reggie. Reggie is always good. I can see why he is so influential on so many in the Asian American poetry scene as well as outside it. The musical act was great(sorry i can't remember her name). Her drummer played a cajon from Peru. I swear it was like having a full drum set in a small box that he sat on. It was incredible. Then we went to Village Mingala on 7th between 2nd and 3rd Ave. The food there is delicious(its burmese food). I didn't eat much because I had eaten a lot at dim sum house, but i had some golden triangles that were really good. There were like ten of us at the table and allthe conversations were cool. Then just as we were getting ready to leave, Reggie shows up and starts singing. It was hilarious.
After dinner we started to go home when I decided to stop by Kims video. Bought three more DVDs.(good thing I can write them off otherwise I'd be screwed. Anyway its late. Good night.
