So today I ate and drank in order:
a bagel with peanut butter
cranberry juice
Coca cola
french fries with mozzarella
ice cream from cold stone creamery (monkey bites)
coca cola
a glass of water
there must be a meal in there somewhere
Jeannie is in Boston. Even with the two cats and the TV, the house is quiet and a little dark. A lot like a hotel room. I remember I didn't like to be home much when I lived alone. It always seemed like something could happen to you and people wouldn't find out until days later.

Forgive me blogger for I have sinned it has been 19 days since my last confession.
Some of the things that have happened in no particular order, okay maybe in the order I remember them.
3 day conference of after-school educators in tarrytown- as dull as wood. I wanted to cut off my own head and replace it with a pumpkin.
Limerick Slam was cool. Got a picture with Billy Collins and got third in the limerick slam. Shappy took second and Eric got first although I don't know how many friends he lost doing it. IT was hilarious. I love theme slams, they make it fun for me again.
First day of Spring- ya right, its colder than a witches inner child.
Acentos anniversary reading with Miguel Algarin was off the Captain's hook(trying it out). It really is amazing the amount of support and love that Acentos gets from the community. I think its due in no small part to the dedication and attitude of its founders Oscar and Fish and the acentos team Rich and Jessica. Its amazing to behold. Miguel was dynamic and entertaining. He energized the room, and stayed for most of the open mic. It was the hotness.
On a side note: I have never had to yell this much at any job in my whole life. I have managed a staff of 22 and fired and reprimanded and all of that, but I have never had to raise my voice with such frequency. I think there are too many egos to deal with in my current job. Next year will be a different story. Maybe they don't realize how stubborn I am and how much I don't accept failure. If someone tells me that something can't be done, I ask why? Then I go and try until I am satisfied that it can't be done. It usually takes a long time for me to reach that point. I am no where near that now. Que sigua la lucha.
Today's song is the star wars "Imperial March" ( Hip Hop remix)

The Rev Pedro Pietri died on his return trip from Mexico on Wednesday. Of course all of you reading this know this already, there's only a handful of you. I had planned to say something about the Rev and do a piece of his in memoriam at the Filatino feature at Columbia University. I had the two pieces laid out on the table. I didn't do them. It was a strange crowd. They didn't respond to anything very much. Sometimes college crowds are like that. It really tends to throw me off, I spent the whole feature trying to get them to react to something. It made me distracted and I forgot the Rev's pieces. I feel like an ass. I'm not sure that he would have cared since he did not know me and I am not a Nuyorican, but still I wanted to acknowledge the tradition that is inherit whether consciously or not.
Other than that thank you all who came to the feature. Thanks to Omar for the great feature partnerness. Thanks to Columbia, who I later found out was really Barnard College. Thanks to the people who brought us out and supported the AAWW.
Todays song of the day is "thank You" by the Dreaming.

So this is stolen from so many people I'm no longer sure of the original owner. although I'm fairly sure I got it from Guy who got it from Klute.
So, say you were meeting a new person - blind date, new friend, who knows. And you wanted them to have some idea of what kind of person you are, and who you are. But you can't actually tell them in so many words. Instead, you have to give them a box, with a dozen things in it for them to ponder over.
What would you put in the box? No cheating - you're not allowed to include things such as links to your livejournal.
My box:
1) 8 hour video cassette of cartoon network especially adult swim
2) Map of the western hemisphere pre-comumbus
3) a pupusa filled with platano
4) a copy of my chapbook
5) snoopy snow cone machine
6) a trumpet (unused)
7) a picture of Jeannie
8) my ipod
9) a copy of "anatomy for the artist"
10) a cd full of bootleg programs
11) dvd of casablanca
12) instructions on how to find my island if everything goes to shit

So I spent yesterday watching the oscars. Damn it Why didn't I bet. The only one I didn't pick was Sound editing and the war documentary. I even got the short subject documentary one. Damn it.
Today I got to notes on my migente page. It is woefully old. I have not updated it in two years, maybe more, yet still people go to it and complement me on my stuff. I forget how much I shut myself off from the world. i am going to attempt to connect more.
Along those lines:
I have a feature this week with Omar at Columbia University. It's a benefit for the Asian American Writer's Workshop. We are each going to do a half hour set and there is dinner. The bonus is the dinner is only $2. That's right dinner for two dollars and it's only three dollars to get in. Did I mention there is also free coffee and refreshments. It's in the lower level of the Mcintosh building. It starts at 7:30 pm. I'm not sure where that building is. Oh and get there on time because Omar and I are going first and then the student open mic ever. I hope you can go. Come and connect with me, I am lonely. :)
P.S. Please go out and vote for Dennis Kucinich this Tuesday March 2, if you are a registered Democrat.
